Railway Ticketing Systems
Symcotech has been designing and manufacturing public transportation Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) since 1993.

Symcotech offers three types of ticketing systems:

1.  Cashless TVM
This is a reduced cost, reduced size unit that accepts payment by credit card and special contract cards, and issues a train ticket.

2.  Standard TVM
This unit is a robust device that accepts payments in the form of coins, banknotes, credit cards and special contract cards. It recycles coins accepted from the public using four coin hoppers, and may add up to two banknote dispensers to increase the change giving capacity.

High Speed Transactions
Both units come with a 15" LCD touch screen. The optimized user interface combined with a high speed thermal magnetic printer completing a credit card or special contract card purchase in less than 10 seconds for the majority of tickets sold on the machine. The fast banknote reader and coins mechanism allows completing a cash purchase in less than 15 seconds.

Smart features include the ability to reserve seats on demand, implement complex purchase rules for credit cards and special contract cards depending on usage history and operator preferences, and applying complex issuing rules for train tickets, depending on spatial and temporal conditions (location, time of day, day of week etc.), Point of sale availability, and more.

3. Calypso ™ Cashless TVM
This version supports reloading of transportation contracts on a contactless smart card that is compatible with the Israeli Calypso standard.

Point of Sale
The point of sale unit is a cashier operated unit, used to sell train tickets and issue gate passes to customers. The POS accepts payments in the form of cash, credit cards and special contract cards. The POS uses a dedicated keyboard for one or two key operation on most common ticket sales. The POS may sell a combination of tickets with various passenger types, source and destination, time and date of travel and ticket type. The POS supports reserved seats reservations with an optional direction of travel and train side selection. A variety of logs, error detection and operation analysis is conducted regularly to detect fraud operations by the cashier. The POS supports optional cash drawer and passenger display.
